Hey, I’m Brittany! Take your shoes off  & let’s get cozy.

I started Haven Candle Company for two very distinct reasons. First, after I got married, I found myself with free time for the first time in my life. Seriously. I never allowed myself time for hobbies, or space for creativity. And once I hung out in that space for a while, I knew I needed a creative outlet that was all mine. 

I have a dream job. I work full time with a nonprofit in Omaha that is truly changing the conversations around criminal justice in Nebraska and coming alongside people to help them realize their true potential. It is such a gift! We teach people in correctional settings about entrepreneurship. And as we teach them to explore their inner hustler, I felt mine calling. I wanted to create something from the ground up. I just needed to figure out what it was going to be. 

The second reason I started Haven is because I’ve always loved candles. I love them for one specific reason: the way they make me feel. They instantly make a space more inviting,  and more cozy. When someone lights a candle, it’s an invitation to sit down and stay for a while. I love hosting and this is a way I felt I could allow others to make their space feel more inviting and welcoming. 

Since I started candle making at the beginning of 2019, I have found it to be a great release—a therapy of sorts. The time I used to spend watching TV to unwind, I found myself feeling even more relaxed and at peace through the act of creating. 

I hope that the candles you purchase carry that love and desire to create warm and safe spaces into your home. I hope it’s more than just a great way to cover up the terrible smell of roasted broccoli from last night. I hope when you reach for your candle, whether you’re alone or in the company of your loved ones, it makes your house not just a home, but a haven.
